for the Cultivation of High-level Internationalized Talent
Dual-Mentor PBL Academic Research Workshop
The workshop is an in-depth Sino-foreign people-to-people exchange activity primarily conducted through academic research and teaching by dual mentors from China and abroad. Renowned professors from prestigious universities in China and other countries are invited to form teams and adopt the Project-Based Learning (PBL) model. The curriculum covers multiple disciplines within the three major categories: natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities. In addition to imparting professional theories and cutting-edge knowledge, the workshop aims to cultivate students’ dialectical thinking, scientific research methods, innovative consciousness, and practical abilities through research and solving real-world problems that cumulate into participants' academic outcomes.
PBL Program
The courses focus on the core competencies required for high-level international talents, offering a total of 26 courses. These courses aim to cultivate and enhance students’ comprehensive abilities in their professional disciplines, cross-cultural communication skills, international understanding, and global competence. Over the past year, 95 universities have organized more than 8,000 students to participate in these courses. Among them, the most popular courses are “Data Science and Business Analytics,” “Media Arts and Gender in Society,” “Stress, Emotion, Health Management, and Psychological Cognition,” and “Opportunities and Challenges in Financial Markets and Legal Regulation.”
Global Governance Program
The courses are divided into three categories: foundational, advanced, and practical, with a total of 40 courses. Foundational courses integrate disciplines with sustainable development, aiming to solidify the basic knowledge of global governance, covering four major themes: humanity, earth, prosperity, and peace. The advanced and practical courses are designed around three core values, eight core competencies, and six management skills essential for talents in international organizations. These courses include practical application modules based on theoretical learning, helping students comprehensively enhance their abilities.
Volunteers & Interns at Domestic International Organizations
The project actively expands cooperation with international organizations and related institutions within China. It has organized students from 40 participating universities to intern for 2-6 months at the embassies and consulates of 14 countries, including the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, and the Republic of Namibia. Additionally, students have served as volunteers at various international conferences. Through these internships, students have broadened their international perspectives, improved their communication skills, and enhanced their work capabilities.
International Organization Internship Placements
Through joint efforts between universities and the Programme, 819 students from 68 participating universities have successfully secured internships at over 100 international organizations, including the United Nations Headquarters, UNESCO, the International Monetary Fund, the International Atomic Energy Agency, the World Bank, and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific.
International Organization Trainings and Internships
In collaboration with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) New York Office, United Nations University, and the ASEAN University Network (AUN), the Programme has established international civil servant pre-service training programs, including online training camps and oonsite practical training camps (collectively referred to as “training”). These trainings consist of three main modules: theoretical learning, visits and exchanges, and practical experience. The aim is to help students enhance their foreign language skills, cross-cultural communication abilities, and professional competencies, while deepening their multidimensional understanding of international organizations and international civil servants.

Enhancing Students' Participation in Global Governance
Teacher's Training
Leaders from relevant ministries, project experts, officials from international organizations, and renowned professors from domestic and international universities are invited to develop and teach courses. These courses are aimed at providing Teacher’s Training for university teachers and administrative staff, thereby assisting universities in cultivating a high-level internationalized faculty. The Teacher’s Training includes 16 specialized courses, each with 26-35 class hours, integrating the concepts of cultural exchange and global competence into teacher training. By relying on high-quality courses and scientific training modules, the program aims to comprehensively enhance teachers’abilities.
SDGs China Ultra Star
The activity is an advocacy-driven social impact initiative designed around the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It includes a series of engaging practical activities such as designing posters, creating interactive videos, health challenges, photography contests, and climate summit simulations. These activities aim to encourage participants of all ages to understand and practice the UN SDGs. Participants can choose from different levels of tasks and have the opportunity to receive participation certificates and eco-friendly gifts upon task completion.
Career Planning for International Civil Servants
Officials working in international organizations and young representatives who have interned at such organizations are invited as keynote speakers to share their experiences of working or interning at the United Nations and other international organizations. They also provide advice based on their own work insights. The aim is to encourage teachers and students to “see the world, understand the world, and go global,” helping them deepen their understanding of the importance of international organizations and global governance, and to develop their personal development plans.
Academic Frontier Talks
Professors from renowned universities such as the University of Cambridge, Columbia University, Fudan University, and Renmin University of China, as well as industry experts, are invited to deliver a series of lectures. These lectures revolve around four main themes: “Enhancing Humanistic Literacy,” “Promoting the Spirit of Scientists,” “Frontier Interdisciplinary Studies,” and “The New Era of Global Economy and Sustainable Development.” The aim is to help teachers and students broaden their international perspectives, enhance their humanistic literacy, appreciate the charm of academic frontiers, and stay informed about current global issues.
